No mega hotels, free access to the beaches!
"We want an economic and ecological sustainable development!"
The Cretan administration will approve privatization of beaches and the location of large projects on Crete’s south coast. Currently a mega hotel consisting of 700 houses and 2,000 beds on the beach of Triopetra/Akóumia is involved. Building a container port near Timbaki has been stopped for the time being due to local opposition but there is no guarantee that this planning stop applies to other possible concepts for building a port as well. A major part of the population opposes these plans. For their region they demand a policy which is orientated on sustainable criteria. The action groups need and ask for external support in this respect.
